Participants start by riding the Banff Sightseeing Chairlift to reach the base of the Via Ferrata course on Mt Norquay. This guided small-group climbing activity lasts about two and a half hours and is led by ACMG-certified guides. Climbers ascend rock faces equipped with steel handholds, ladders, and footholds, while secured to a steel safety cable. The route includes climbing various pitches and crossing a suspension bridge above the Bow Valley, providing views of the town of Banff below. The Explorer Route serves as an introduction to Via Ferrata climbing and does not require prior experience, but participants should be physically fit enough to climb ladders. The operator provides all safety equipment such as helmets, harnesses, and lanyards, along with rainwear, backpacks, and suitable hiking boots when available. A free shuttle bus to and from Banff is included. Food, drink, gratuities, and hotel transfers are not part of the package.
