Overview

This 4.5-hour boat tour in the Bay of Islands focuses on the area's natural features and landmarks. The cruise travels among 144 subtropical islands, including two stops on remote islands. The first stop is Roberton Island, where visitors can walk a trail to a lookout offering 360-degree views of the surrounding islands and Twin Lagoons. The boat then approaches Motu Kokako, known as the Hole in the Rock, a natural rock formation with a large round opening carved by wind and water. Weather permitting, the boat sails through this opening; if conditions are poor, an alternate sheltered route is taken. The cruise also passes the Cape Brett Lighthouse and the nearby Lighthouse Keeper’s Cottage. The second island stop is on either Waewaetorea, Moturua, or Urupukapuka Island, decided on the day. Here, guests can snorkel with provided mask, snorkel, and fins, swim, walk, or relax on the beach. This stop allows for picnic lunch if brought or pre-ordered. Throughout the tour, wildlife spotting and commentary are provided. The tour is suitable for all ages and types of travelers. Check-in is at Pier 10 on Paihia Wharf, and no hotel pickup or lunch is included.
