Overview

The Bay of Islands is a region made up of 144 islands, known for its beaches and marine life. This sailing tour aboard the Phantom yacht lasts about five and a half hours and carries no more than 10 guests for a personal experience. The boat sails through the Bay of Islands to reach one of the islands, where guests have about an hour to go ashore and hike to viewpoints overlooking the bay and its islands. While guests are on land or relaxing on board, the crew prepares a homemade lunch served during the trip. The tour includes opportunities to swim and snorkel using provided equipment. On the return sail to Russell, guests can enjoy the scenery and learn about the history of the Bay of Islands from Rick and Robin, the local hosts. They share their sailing knowledge and offer instruction if requested. The yacht has a special background, and no sailing experience is needed to join. Wildlife sightings may include native sea birds such as penguins, gannets, and shearwaters, as well as occasional visits from dolphins or orca.
