by Benny's Home Cooking Chiang Mai
The full-day cooking class begins with a hotel pickup in downtown Chiang Mai. Participants travel about 20 minutes to Benny's countryside home, which is surrounded by an organic garden. The day starts with a visit to a local market where guests select fresh ingredients and taste local foods. After the market tour, the group returns to Benny's home kitchen for a six-hour cooking session. During the class, participants prepare five different dishes, choosing from categories including appetizers, soups, curry pastes made from scratch, stir-fried dishes, and desserts. Ingredients come from the market and Benny's garden, allowing guests to use produce they personally pick. A professional instructor guides the cooking process. Coffee and herbal tea are provided throughout the day. A recipe book is included to help recreate the dishes later. The experience concludes with a hotel drop-off in downtown Chiang Mai. Vegetarian options are available if requested at booking. Children under ten years old are not permitted in the group class.
Local Market and Cooking Start
After picking up all participants in town, the group proceeds to a fresh local market located outside the town where authentic Thai daily life can be observed, unlike tourist markets. On the morning of the tour, a menu checklist with food descriptions is provided to select preferred dishes from various categories. Participants are advised to bring a water bottle and wear casual clothing during the market visit. After the initial market tour and food tasting, there is time to walk around the market again for purchasing food or taking photos. Next, the group heads to the home where organic vegetables grown on-site and a nearby rice paddy are visible. The cooking session begins with making curry paste, followed by preparing an appetizer and soup, then a stir-fried noodle dish, curry, and dessert. At the end, a recipe book is given to assist with cooking at home.
