Overview

This full-day tour from Chiang Mai lasts about 9 to 10 hours and includes trekking on nature trails and visits to waterfalls within Doi Inthanon National Park. The day begins with a hotel pickup or meeting point transfer early in the morning, followed by a 1.5-hour drive to Wachirathan Waterfall, known for its strong cascades and mist. After spending around 30 minutes there, the tour continues to the summit of Doi Inthanon, Thailand’s highest mountain at 2,565 meters, where guests can take photos at the summit sign during a 35-minute stop. Next, visitors spend about 50 minutes at the King and Queen Pagodas, which are located above the clouds and surrounded by gardens, offering wide views across the park. Near the top of the mountain, the Angkha nature walk allows a short walk through unique high-altitude plant life. The tour then visits the Hmong Market for about 15 minutes, where local hill tribe people sell fresh produce and food. Depending on the season, guests will trek one of two nature trails for about two hours. From November to May, the Kew Mae Pan trail is followed; this is a 3-kilometer moderate trek through forest and to clear viewpoints above the clouds. From June to October, the Pha Dok Siew trail is chosen; this 2.5-kilometer moderate trek passes farmlands, coffee plantations, rice terraces (from July to mid-November), and a Karen hill tribe village before reaching a hidden waterfall. The tour ends with a 30-minute visit to Baan Mae Klang Luang, a Karen hill tribe village where visitors can observe daily life and taste freshly brewed local coffee. Lunch, all entrance fees, accident insurance, and air-conditioned transport are included. The trek covers 2 to 3 kilometers on moderate terrain with some uneven and slippery areas, so proper trekking shoes are recommended. Temperatures at the peak can be cold even during the day, so warm clothing is advised.
