This guided tour lasts about five and a half hours and begins at a meeting point near S+U Friedrichstraße in Berlin. Participants take a train to Oranienburg, the town where Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp was built. Upon arrival, the group spends approximately fifteen minutes walking around Oranienburg to learn about the local population’s involvement and the places where prisoners were forced to work. The main part of the tour takes place at the Sachsenhausen Memorial and Museum, the first concentration camp specifically designed and constructed by the Nazis. The guide leads visitors through important sites within the camp, including the barracks, punishment and prison cells, camp kitchen, Station Z where mass executions occurred, the gas chamber, crematorium, infirmary, pathology center, and Tower A, the main guard tower. The tour also includes a visit to the Inspectorate of Camps building, which served as the Nazi headquarters for managing concentration camps across Europe. A licensed English-speaking guide trained by the memorial authority conducts the entire visit. Entry to the memorial site is included. Participants must have a valid ABC zone transport ticket for the round-trip train journey to and from Oranienburg. Hotel pickup and drop-off, meals, drinks, and gratuities are not included. Good walking shoes are recommended, and the tour is not advised for individuals with limited mobility or walking impairments.
