Overview

This tour includes a 4.5-hour visit to Boone Hall Plantation, one of the oldest working plantations in America. Transportation is provided by an air-conditioned mini bus with a professional driver, departing from the Charleston Visitors Center downtown. The tour is limited to a maximum of 25 people and includes round-trip transfer and all entrance fees. At Boone Hall Plantation, visitors spend about three hours exploring the site. A 30-minute guided house tour begins on the front porch and is led by a guide dressed in historical clothing. The tour covers the plantation’s history and its changes in ownership since 1681. Guests can also visit the historic slave cabins to learn about the lives and conditions of the enslaved people who lived there. Depending on the season, the tour includes a live Gullah Theater presentation performed by a costumed actor, which highlights the culture developed by African enslaved people. When available, a tram tour of the plantation grounds is included. The tour concludes with transportation back to the Charleston Visitors Center, which offers parking, restrooms, and a gift shop. Drinks and snacks can be purchased at the plantation. The site is not wheelchair accessible, but guests with limited mobility may participate if assisted by a companion.
