This life-size Baroque marble sculpture by Gian Lorenzo Bernini was created between 1622 and 1625 and is displayed in the Borghese Gallery. It illustrates the climax of the myth of Apollo and Daphne from Ovid’s Metamorphosis, showing the moment of Daphne’s transformation.

Antonio Canova’s "Pauline Bonaparte as Venus Victrix" is a neo-Classical, semi-nude life-size statue made between 1805 and 1808. It was commissioned by Pauline’s husband Camillo Borghese and moved through several locations before arriving at the gallery around 1838.
