Overview

The tour starts by walking through Manhattan's streets to see the exterior of the Tweed Courthouse, a building finished in 1881 known for its 19th-century architecture and history of political corruption. Next, the group visits outside the Municipal Building, one of New York's largest government buildings, notable for housing the city's second largest public statue. The main part of the tour is a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, which opened in 1883 as the longest suspension bridge worldwide. The guide shares facts about the bridge’s design and construction challenges while pointing out views of landmarks like the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, the Chrysler Building, the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, and the Empire State Building. This portion takes about 50 minutes. After crossing into Brooklyn, the tour continues with a 30-minute walk around DUMBO, a neighborhood known for its cobblestone streets, converted warehouses, galleries, shops, cafes, and restaurants along the waterfront. The final stop is Brooklyn Bridge Park, an 85-acre green space with landscaped areas and family activities offering views of the Manhattan skyline. The entire walking tour lasts approximately two and a half hours and includes a local guide who explains the history of Brooklyn and the bridge throughout.
