Overview

This walking tour lasts about 90 minutes and takes place inside and around Grand Central Station in New York City. The tour begins inside Grand Central Station’s main concourse, in front of Track 29, where the guide holds an "Untapped New York" sign. A licensed New York City guide who is a native New Yorker leads the group throughout the tour. Inside Grand Central Station, the guide explains the building’s surprising history and points out unique features such as the hidden tennis court, the ceiling painted backwards, and a design flaw as large as the main concourse. The tour includes a visit to the Campbell Apartment, an elegant cocktail bar that was formerly an office, a speakeasy, and a jail. Guests will also see the entrance to the glass walkways, discover hidden symbols related to the family that built Grand Central, and find what remains of the lost movie theater. Outside the station, the guide points out landmarks including the Chrysler Building and the MetLife Building while walking through midtown Manhattan. The tour concludes near the Graybar Electric Building. Ear pieces are provided to ensure everyone can hear the guide clearly throughout the walk. Gratuities are not included.
