Overview

Brussels is known for its historic sites and its chocolate, beer, and waffle traditions. This small-group walking tour lasts about five and a half hours and covers the city’s main landmarks and food specialties. The tour begins with a walk around the historic center, including stops at Manneken Pis, Jeanneke Pis, Sablon, and the Royal Galleries. While exploring, participants learn about Brussels’ history and social life. The first part focuses on Belgian chocolate culture. Guests visit top chocolate makers to sample 12 different treats such as ganache, pralines, truffles, chocolate macarons, and hot chocolate. The traditional Speculoos cookie, made from a 17th-century recipe, is also included. The tour continues with beer tasting at several local bars off the usual tourist path. Guests try at least six Belgian beers from different styles, including Trappist, abbey, Lambic, and microbrewery beers. This includes the exclusive Westvleteren XII, considered the best beer in the world. Alongside the beer, local cheeses and sausages are served. For the first time in Brussels, the tour offers a chance to sample a local single malt Belgian whiskey from a brewery/distillery in the city. The tour concludes in the Royal Galleries Saint-Hubert, a building from 1847 known for its architecture. Here, participants enjoy a full Brussels waffle topped with their choice of fruit and melted chocolate, served with cutlery, accompanied by a Trappist beer. Soft drinks or wine are available instead of alcoholic beverages for participants who do not drink alcohol or beer. Children over six years old may join with adults and receive soft drinks instead of alcohol. Infants and babies are not permitted. The tour includes all food and drink samples, and participants receive a 10% discount at two chocolate shops and one liquor store.
