Overview

The Camira Sailing Adventure through the Whitsunday Islands is a 10-hour trip aboard the largest sailing catamaran in the area, with a limited number of guests to allow space for relaxing on deck. The trip departs from Airlie Beach and sails through the Whitsunday Islands to Whitehaven Beach on Whitsunday Island’s east coast. Camira anchors at the northern end of Whitehaven Beach, a 7-kilometer stretch of white silica sand. Guests spend about three hours on the beach, where they can swim or walk along the shore. A guided walk to the Hill Inlet lookout follows, lasting about one hour. This walk uses a trail once traveled by the Ngaro people, the traditional owners of the Whitsundays, and is subject to tidal conditions. After the walk, guests return to the boat for a BBQ lunch served on board. In the afternoon, Camira sails to one of the Whitsundays’ fringing reefs for snorkeling. Snorkeling equipment and stinger suits are provided. Drinks are included throughout the day, with beer, wine, and cider available from 10 a.m. Morning and afternoon tea are also served. The vessel has a bathroom for guest use. Return coach transfers from most Airlie Beach accommodations are available for an additional charge. Guests should bring a swimsuit, towel, protective clothing, hat, and sunscreen. A moderate level of fitness is recommended due to walking, snorkeling, and climbing in and out of tenders.
