Overview

This full-day tour from Panama City combines nature, history, and engineering over about six hours using an air-conditioned minibus. The journey begins with a hotel pickup and a 90-minute ride to Colón, where a guided rainforest safari offers several stops to observe and photograph local wildlife such as monkeys, sloths, anteaters, caimans, and crocodiles. After exploring the jungle, the tour proceeds to the Agua Clara Locks, part of the Panama Canal expansion, where visitors watch large cargo ships passing through the new locks. Admission to the Canal expansion area is not included and must be paid on site. The itinerary includes a nature walk along a jungle trail to see dense vegetation and some wildlife. Next is a visit to the ruins of Fort San Lorenzo, a coastal fortress known for resisting pirate attacks for nearly 75 years. The tour concludes with transport back to Panama City. Included are hotel pickup and drop-off, beverages such as soda, water, or local beer, and a professional driver. Lunch and Canal expansion admission fees are excluded. A multilingual guide may lead the tour.
