Overview

This canyoning tour takes place in Madeira at the Ribeira das Cales route within Funchal Ecological Park. The activity lasts about five hours and begins with a pickup from accommodations in the center of Funchal or Caniço. Participants are transported in air-conditioned vehicles to Chão da Lagoa, where a safety briefing and gear fitting take place. The route starts with a short walk through the Laurissilva Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The group then follows a mountain watercourse, moving by swimming, jumping, walking, and rappelling down five waterfalls. The highest waterfall rappel is 18 meters (60 feet). Professional guides lead the group and provide all necessary equipment, including canyoning suits and helmets. No prior experience is required, but participants should have a basic level of fitness and be comfortable in water. A short break may be taken for rest and snacks during the tour. At the end, participants are transported back to their accommodations. The package includes all required equipment, guidance from at least two professional canyoning instructors, air-conditioned transport, and photos from the day. Participants must bring their own towel, swimsuit, sports shoes suitable for water, and a change of clothes. Drinks, food, and personal items are not included. The tour operates in all weather conditions when it is safe to do so.
