Overview

This Cape Town Essentials Food Tour lasts about four hours and covers four neighborhoods: Bo-Kaap, City Centre, De Waterkant, and Foreshore. The tour begins in Bo-Kaap, spending one hour tasting local dishes such as Cape Malay specialties and learning about the area's culture and history. Next, the group walks to Bree Street in the city centre, where they visit Heritage Square and sample South African classics in a courtyard setting. After that, the tour continues for one hour in De Waterkant near the Cape Quarter Lifestyle Village, exploring streets lined with shops, galleries, and restaurants, with tastings of both local and international foods. The final stop is a longstanding sports bar in the Foreshore district, where participants enjoy local fare and the lively atmosphere. On Mondays, the tour ends in the city centre, a short distance from the usual final location. The route covers about 2 kilometers on foot and includes stairs, so it is not accessible for wheelchairs or strollers. A local guide leads the tour and provides food and drink tastings, including alternative non-alcoholic beverages such as coffee and tea. Guests should wear comfortable walking shoes and be prepared for variable weather. The tour operates rain or shine except in extreme weather conditions.
