Overview

This 6 to 7-hour bus tour covers key historical sites in the central and northern areas of Cappadocia near Goreme. The tour begins at Uçhisar Castle, the highest rock formation in the region, where the guide describes the geological origins of the landscape. Next is the Zelve Open Air Museum, featuring cave churches and monasteries from the 10th and 11th centuries with painted biblical frescoes. The tour continues with a brief visit to Çavuşin village to see abandoned old Greek houses. A buffet lunch with various Turkish dishes, including meat and vegetarian options, mezes, salads, and desserts, is served in Avanos. After lunch, the group visits a family-run pottery workshop in an underground cave where the pottery-making process is demonstrated and guests may try the potter’s wheel. The afternoon includes stops at Paşabağı Valley, known for its mushroom-shaped fairy chimneys and the Chapel of Saint Simeon, followed by Devrent Valley, where natural rock formations resemble animals such as a camel. Entrance fees and an English-speaking professional guide are included. Drinks and tips are not covered.
