Overview

The tour begins at the Discova Chiang Mai office at 8:15 AM with a bike fitting and safety briefing. Participants then cycle to the train station to board a 30-minute train south to Lamphun. From Lamphun station, the ride continues through quiet streets and past the ancient city wall to Wat Phra That Hariphunchai, a temple featuring a large golden chedi. After spending about 30 minutes at the temple, the group cycles back toward Chiang Mai through the countryside, passing fruit orchards and canals. The tour stops for lunch in a small village on the banks of the Ping River, where simple Thai dishes are served. After lunch, the ride crosses the Ping River and continues through rice paddies to Ban Tawai village, known for its wood carving artisans. Bikes are parked while participants walk around to view the craftsmanship. The route then follows backroads and country lanes through small villages and forested areas at the foothills of Doi Suthep. Along the way, there is a stop at an ancient forest shrine dedicated to one of Chiang Mai’s founding kings. After cycling some hills, the group arrives at Royal Park Rajapruek for a one-hour rest. The final part of the day involves loading bicycles onto a vehicle for a return trip to the starting point via less congested roads to avoid peak-hour traffic. The entire tour covers about 60 kilometers and lasts approximately seven hours. Included are an English-speaking guide, lunch, snacks, drinks, helmet and bicycle use, train tickets, and insurance. Hotel pickup and drop-off are not included.
