Overview

Participants start by boarding an air-conditioned vehicle from Playa del Carmen for a day lasting about 12 to 13 hours, including travel time. The first stop is Chichen Itza, where the group arrives right as the site opens to avoid crowds. They spend two and a half hours exploring the ruins, including a guided 1 hour 45 minutes visit to landmarks such as La Iglesia, Las Monjas, The Observatory, Kukulkan Castle, the 1000 Columns Temple, the Jaguar Temple, and the largest Mayan Ball Game stadium. After the guided portion, there is 45 minutes of free time to take photos, explore independently, or shop for souvenirs within the site. Next, the tour visits Cenote Hubiku, an underground cenote known for its stalactites. Guests can swim in the cenote to cool off. Following the swim, a regional buffet lunch is served at the cenote’s restaurant. The final stop is Ek Balam, a Mayan archaeological site located in a jungle setting. Visitors have about one hour to see the site’s detailed carvings and climb the Acropolis pyramid, the highest point of the ruins. The tour includes a professional English-speaking guide, bottled water, all visits with guidance, early access to Chichen Itza, lunch, and air conditioning on the vehicle. Entrance taxes to Chichen Itza and Ek Balam are not included and must be paid on the day of travel. Total duration depends on the hotel or meeting point location but ranges between 12 and 13 hours.
