Overview

Akumal is home to a protected jungle area where a monkey sanctuary cares for rescued animals. This off road ATV tour lasts about four hours and includes riding through jungle trails away from busy paths. Participants will drive powerful ATVs on natural terrain surrounded by tropical plants and wildlife. During the tour, there is a stop at a hidden cenote where visitors can swim in clear water to cool off. The trip continues to the Akumal Monkey Sanctuary, where rescued animals live and conservation efforts are explained. For an additional fee, guests can have a close monkey bonding experience under supervision. The tour includes raincoats in case of rain, security glasses, helmets, and hotel pickup and drop-off from selected hotels. Drivers must be at least 16 years old and show ID. Children aged 5 to 16 can ride as passengers on double ATVs. The tour requires arriving 20 minutes early to keep the reservation. ATV insurance, gratuities, and souvenir photos are not included.

Akumal Monkey Sanctuary & Rescued Animals

The tour includes a ride through wild jungle trails in Akumal on ATVs, surrounded by tropical vegetation. There is a stop at a hidden cenote where guests can swim to refresh. Afterwards, visitors arrive at the Akumal Monkey Sanctuary to see rescued animals and learn about conservation. An optional monkey bonding session is available with an additional charge.
