Overview

This semi-private tour takes a small group of up to eight people on a full-day trip lasting about 12 hours to visit Cinque Terre and see the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Travel is by black Mercedes minivan with hotel pickup and drop-off or from designated meeting points. The tour includes train and boat tickets to move between villages along the Cinque Terre coastline. The tour visits three of the five Cinque Terre villages, typically Riomaggiore, Manarola, and Vernazza. At Riomaggiore, guests can walk through the town’s stone houses with colored facades and slate roofs. It is possible to hike the one-hour Trail 531 from Riomaggiore to Manarola, subject to weather and trail conditions; the driver follows the group by boat or train. Public boats run along the coast from April until about the third week of October, also depending on weather. After arriving in Manarola, known as the oldest village with the San Lorenzo church dating to 1338, the group takes the train to Vernazza. Vernazza has the only natural port in the Cinque Terre and features notable architecture including the Castle of the Doria, watchtowers, and the Romanesque sanctuary of Our Lady of Reggio. Here guests have time for an optional swim and lunch (not included). After returning by train to Riomaggiore, the tour continues by minivan to Pisa. There is about 40 minutes of free time at Piazza dei Miracoli to see the Leaning Tower (outside) and other monuments such as the Pisa Baptistery and Duomo. Tickets to climb the tower are not included but can be booked separately. The tour then returns to Florence by minivan.
