Overview

This 3 to 4-hour small-group bus tour covers the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica with skip-the-line tickets to all three sites. The guided route through the Vatican Museums lasts about an hour and highlights both famous artworks and lesser-known pieces. Visitors pass through the Pinecone Courtyard to see the large bronze sculpture Sphere within a Sphere by Arnaldo Pomodoro. The itinerary includes stops at the Cortile della Pigna, where you will view the Belvedere Courtyard with Apollo Belvedere and Laocoön and His Sons, the Gallery of the Candelabra, the Gallery of the Maps, the Gallery of the Tapestries, and take in views of St. Peter's Basilica. Next, the tour spends around 30 minutes in the Raphael Rooms, known for their frescoes. After a brief photo stop, the group enters the Sistine Chapel for 45 minutes, where the guide explains the details to watch for, including Michelangelo’s frescoes, hidden self-portraits, and the story behind the Last Judgement. The guide cannot speak inside the chapel itself. The tour concludes with a 30-minute visit to St. Peter's Basilica through a special group-only entrance, where the guide describes the 120-year construction of the church and highlights its artworks and treasures. This basilica access is included only in the Complete Vatican option, not in the Vatican Express version. The tour operates with a maximum of 18 people and is led by an expert local guide. Skip-the-line tickets for the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica are included. Gratuities and hotel pickup or drop-off are not covered. The tour is not suitable for guests using wheelchairs, strollers, or with mobility impairments. On Wednesdays and certain special days when the special access route between the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica is closed, the tour offers a more detailed visit of the Museums instead. All participants must bring identification matching their booking information.
