Overview

This full-day bus tour from Tbilisi takes you to two notable locations in Georgia over about 12 hours. Your first stop is Vardzia, a cave complex from the 12th century carved into Erusheti Mountain on the left bank of the Mtkvari River. The site includes a bell tower, main church, cave dwellings, chapels, rooms, a pharmacy, and wine cellars. The complex extends up to nineteen tiers with steps leading to a cemetery. You will see the tunnels, water facilities, and defensive structures. Archaeological evidence shows the area was inhabited since the Bronze Age. Vardzia is under consideration for UNESCO World Heritage status. After Vardzia, the tour continues to Borjomi, a resort town known for its mineral water, Georgia’s top export. Borjomi lies on the edge of Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park and features the Romanov summer palace and an ecological amusement park. You will visit Borjomi Central Park during the stop.
