Overview

This mountain bike tour takes place on the North Yungas Road, known as the world's most dangerous road, located in Bolivia. The day begins with a drive from La Paz to La Cumbre pass at 4,800 meters altitude, where participants receive a safety briefing and are provided with top-quality Kona full suspension bikes and full safety gear, including helmets, gloves, knee and elbow pads, and protective clothing. The ride covers approximately 40 miles (64 km), mostly downhill, over four to five hours. The route descends from the high-altitude Andes into the Amazonian jungle, passing through Cotapata National Park. Along the way, riders stop at San Juan waterfalls, where they ride through the falls and take a break for snacks. After the biking section, the group visits La Senda Verde Ecotourism Resort, an animal refuge, where lunch is served and visitors can observe rescued wildlife. The full tour lasts about thirteen and a half hours, including transport by minibus or small bus from La Paz and back. Breakfast, lunch, drinks, snacks, all bike maintenance, and a Death Road Survivor T-shirt are included. Participants may return to La Paz the same day or opt to stay overnight at La Senda Verde or in Coroico. The tour is led by professional guides and operated by a company adhering to international safety standards. The minimum age is 18 years, and a good level of fitness is required. The ride is suitable for both beginners and experienced cyclists but not recommended for those with serious medical conditions such as heart or back problems. All necessary equipment sizes and insurance details must be provided at booking.
