Overview

This full-day tour departs from Seoul and lasts between 7 and 11 hours, including round-trip transfers by air-conditioned vehicle and an English-speaking guide. From Tuesday to Sunday, the itinerary includes visits to Imjingak Park and Freedom Bridge, followed by exploration of the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, a nearly 1.6-kilometer-long underground passage discovered in 1978. The tour continues to the DMZ Exhibition Hall and then to Dora Observatory, where visitors can look across the border into North Korea and see Dorasan Station, South Korea's last train station before the border. The tour also passes through Unification Village. On Mondays, the schedule changes to include the 2nd Tunnel, Peace Observatory, Woljeongri train station, and a Suspension Bridge visit. Guests who select the gondola option (available Tuesday through Sunday) ride a cable car to Gallery Greaves for panoramic views. Those choosing the suspension bridge option visit Gamaksan Chulleong Bridge near the DMZ area, a 150-meter-long swinging bridge crossing a mountain valley with distinctive black and blue rock formations; this bridge may be substituted with Lake Suspension Bridge or Hantangang Suspension Bridge. An optional lecture by a North Korean defector is offered on all days except Monday. Admission to all attractions is included. Participants must bring a valid passport with at least six months’ validity. The tour involves some walking and moderate hiking, especially inside the 3rd Tunnel, which may not be suitable for guests with heart, leg, back, or respiratory conditions. Meals and beverages are not included. The itinerary and vehicle type may change depending on conditions and group size.

The Third Tunnel

Discovered by South Korea in 1978, the 3rd Tunnel measures 1,635 meters in length, 2 meters in width, and 2 meters in height. It is situated 52 kilometers from Seoul and is estimated to allow about 30,000 soldiers to pass through each hour. The tunnel lies 4 kilometers southwest of Imjingak and 3.5 kilometers from Tongilchon. It can be reached by car in approximately 45 minutes from Seoul.

Dora Observatory

From Dora Observatory, visitors can see North Korean territory, the 3rd Tunnel, and Dorasan Station, which is South Korea's last train station before the border, 205 kilometers from Pyongyang. If the observatory is closed, an alternative site is arranged.
