This four-hour downhill bicycle tour follows a paved road through the federally protected Meccacopia Wilderness along the San Andreas Fault near Palm Springs, California. The ride starts just outside the town of Mecca and includes about one hour of cycling directly through the Earthquake Canyon area within the San Andreas Fault zone. The route passes through a rugged badlands canyon with wide views of the Colorado Desert. Riders continue with views of the Santa Rosa Mountains before crossing agricultural fields in the Eastern Coachella Valley. Near the end of the tour, participants see the Salton Sea as they exit the canyon. The tour includes a professional guide, bottled water, snacks, use of a bicycle and helmet, and live commentary throughout the ride. The minimum age to participate is 12 years old, and children must be accompanied by an adult. The tour requires at least two participants to operate; solo riders should call ahead.
