Overview

This full-day guided bus tour from Lisbon lasts about 10 hours and covers four key locations in central Portugal. The trip begins with a two-hour visit to the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary in Fátima, a major Catholic pilgrimage site built around the Chapel of Apparitions where the 1917 Marian apparitions were reported. The guide explains the shrine’s history and significance. Next, the tour stops at Batalha Monastery for a 45-minute visit. The group explores the monastery church and the exterior, appreciating its Gothic architectural style. Following this, the tour continues to Nazaré for a one-hour visit to Forte de São Miguel, a 16th-century fortress built to guard against pirate attacks and remodeled in 1644 under King João IV. The last stop is Óbidos village, with a two-hour visit to the medieval town known for its castle, whitewashed houses, and cobbled streets. The guide highlights the village’s history, including its royal connections and many churches. Transportation is provided in an air-conditioned vehicle, and a bilingual guide leads visits at all stops. Hotel pickup and drop-off are not included and may be arranged for an additional fee. Food and drinks are excluded, although the guide can recommend places to eat, especially in Nazaré. The total vehicle travel time is about four hours during the tour.

This location serves as a pilgrimage site dedicated to preserving the memory and message of Fatima, with a mission to study and promote this message both in Portugal and internationally.
