Participants paddle through mangrove trails and shallow waters of the Indian River Lagoon. The tour departs from Haulover Canal in Titusville and Kiwanis Island Park in Merritt Island. Guides accompany the group throughout the trip to provide safety instructions and answer questions. Kayaks, personal flotation devices, and paddles are included. Single kayaks have a maximum weight limit of 300 pounds, and tandem kayaks allow up to 600 pounds. The tour is open to anyone aged 5 and older. Participants should expect to get somewhat wet and are advised to bring towels and wear suitable footwear. Cameras are discouraged since bioluminescence is difficult to capture on film. The best time to see bioluminescence runs from July through October, with possible sightings as late as January. Items such as bug spray, snacks, beverages, and towels are not provided and should be brought if desired.
