Overview

This full-day bus tour from Rio de Janeiro to Petrópolis lasts about 8 to 10 hours and includes a guided visit to several key attractions with lunch provided. The tour begins with a stop at the Imperial Museum, where visitors pass a sanitary checkpoint with temperature checks and mandatory masks before exploring Brazil's largest collection related to the Brazilian empire for about one hour. Next, the group visits the Sesc Quitandinha Cultural Center, a large building with six floors and a 30-meter-high concrete dome, featuring 440 apartments and extensive halls. Afterward, the tour continues to the Catedral de Sao Pedro de Alcantara for a half-hour visit. The cathedral is built in French neo-Gothic style and contains the mausoleum of the Brazilian Imperial Family along with notable sculptures, stained glass, and paintings. The itinerary also includes the Crystal Palace, an iron and glass structure assembled locally in 1884, originally for exhibitions of flowers and agricultural products, now used for cultural events. A visit to the Fabrica de Chocolates Patrone follows, where guests can explore the store selling chocolates and souvenirs. Afterward, the group sees Museu Casa de Santos Dumont, the former home of the aviation pioneer Santos Dumont, located on a steep site in Petrópolis and built in 1918. The tour includes about an hour on Rua Teresa, the city’s largest fashion district with over 1200 stores. Optionally, visitors may choose to visit Cervejaria Bohemia for a one-hour brewery tour that covers the history and production of beer with tastings. The tour includes air-conditioned transport and an accredited guide throughout. Lunch is also included during the excursion. Alcoholic drinks and entrance fees beyond the Imperial Museum ticket are not included.
