Overview

The tour starts with a walk through Plaza de las Tres Culturas, where visitors see architectural examples representing three periods of Mexico’s history. From there, the group visits the church of Santiago de Tlatelolco and views ruins of a pre-Hispanic city along with a monument dedicated to the 1968 student movement. Next, the tour moves to the Basilica Guadalupe complex. Guests climb the hill of Tepeyac for views of Mexico City and visit several chapels within the religious site, including the Chapel of the Indians, the Chapel of the Pocito, and the Modern Basilica itself. The final stop is the archaeological site of Teotihuacan in the State of Mexico. Visitors explore the ruins, including climbing the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon, while learning about the city’s historical significance. The tour also includes a visit to a handicraft center where regional liquors made from cactus and prickly pear and the traditional pulque drink can be sampled. This full-day tour lasts about 8 to 9 hours and is conducted by a certified guide. Transport is provided in an air-conditioned minivan, with hotel pickup and drop-off available for selected hotels.
