Overview

This 90-minute walking tour in Gettysburg begins at East Cemetery Hill, the site of heavy fighting during the Battle of Gettysburg. The guide provides an overview of the area's significance before leading the group to the National Soldiers Orphanage Homestead. This building served as General O.O. Howard’s headquarters and a hospital during the battle. After the war, it was converted into an orphanage for children who lost their fathers in the Civil War. The tour is led by a ghost guide who shares haunted stories based on their own experiences at the orphanage. Participants select one of three spirits to follow: Rosa Carmichael, Isabella (Bella) Hunter, or Dr. John Francis Bournes. The guide takes visitors into the rooms where these spirits are said to remain, sharing firsthand accounts and allowing guests to hear the spirits speak. All fees and taxes are included.
