Overview

This half-day tour lasts about six hours and starts with a round-trip transfer from Paris to the village of Giverny by air-conditioned coach. The drive takes approximately one hour. During the journey, an English-speaking guide explains the schedule for the day and provides information about Claude Monet and the Impressionist movement. Upon arrival at the Fondation Claude Monet, visitors receive a brief introduction to Monet’s estate. After this orientation, visitors spend about ninety minutes exploring Monet’s home and gardens independently using a self-guided audio app, which must be downloaded before the tour. The gardens include the water lily ponds that inspired many of Monet’s paintings, and the house has been restored to reflect its appearance during Monet’s lifetime. Following the visit to Monet’s home and gardens, there is about ninety minutes of free time to walk around the village of Giverny. During this time, visitors may browse local shops, stop at a café, or visit Monet’s tomb near the village church. Lunch is not included but can be taken at local cafés or restaurants in the village. The coach then returns to Paris, allowing time for additional activities later in the day. The tour includes entrance fees to Monet’s house and gardens, the self-guided app, and transportation with an English-speaking guide. Gratuities and food or beverages are not included. The coach parking area is located about a ten- to fifteen-minute walk from the garden entrance.
