Overview

This private day trip in Cairo covers Egypt’s main archaeological sites and includes expert guiding and transport. The tour lasts about 6 to 7 hours and visits the Giza Pyramids, the Great Sphinx, and the Grand Egyptian Museum, including the full King Tutankhamun collection. The day begins with pickup from your hotel in Cairo or Giza in an air-conditioned vehicle. The guide welcomes guests and introduces Egypt’s history before leading a visit to the Giza Pyramids area. You will see the Pyramid of Khufu, the largest pyramid in the world, followed by the Pyramid of Khafre, noted for its fine limestone casing at the top. A photo stop at the panoramic zone offers views of all three pyramids. You will also pass the Valley Temple of Khafre and visit the Great Sphinx on the Giza plateau. A camel ride is included in this part of the tour. Next, the tour proceeds to the Grand Egyptian Museum, the world’s largest museum dedicated to a single civilization. The visit starts in the Grand Hall, which features treasures including a colossal statue of Ramesses II and the Hanging Obelisk. You then ascend the Grand Staircase, an open-air gallery covering 6,000 square meters with over 70 monumental artifacts, ending with a view of the pyramids. The main galleries contain twelve permanent exhibition halls covering Egypt’s history from 700,000 BC through the Roman era. The tour continues with the Tutankhamun Galleries, where the entire collection from King Tutankhamun’s tomb is displayed together for the first time. More than 5,500 artifacts include royal items, ritual objects, personal belongings, furniture, provisions, chariots, and weapons. The museum visit concludes at King Khufu’s Solar Boats Museum, which houses one fully restored ancient wooden boat and a second boat under conservation. The final stop is a traditional Egyptian lunch in Giza. Options include an open buffet of Egyptian dishes, Koshary (a mix of rice, noodles, chickpeas, lentils, fried onions, and tomato sauce), Shawerma (spit-roasted meat served with pita), or various falafel and baba ganoush sandwiches. After lunch, the vehicle returns guests to their hotel. Bottled water, expert Egyptologist guide services, and hotel pickup and drop-off are included. Entry to the Giza Pyramids and Grand Egyptian Museum are included if the all-inclusive option is selected.
