Overview

This intimate small-group tour from Milan lasts approximately 13 hours and includes a maximum of 18 participants. The day begins at Milan Central Station, where travelers take either a regional train or a minibus to a town on Lake Como, a journey of about one hour. Upon arrival, there is a 30-minute walk through a picturesque lakeshore village, which involves some stairs. After the walk, the group travels by small bus along part of Lake Como’s shore and continues for about one and a half hours through the Valtellina valley. A stop of around 30 minutes follows in the valley at either a small town, a winery, or a café. The tour then proceeds to Tirano, where participants leave the bus and climb stairs to reach the Bernina train station. Here, there is about one hour of free time for lunch, which is not included. Next, the group boards the Bernina train, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Bernina Express railway, and travels through the Swiss Alps. Passengers disembark at the highest point of the journey to view snowcaps and glaciers; in winter, this stop is at Diavolezza. After the train ride, the tour continues by bus toward St. Moritz. In St. Moritz, travelers have approximately 45 minutes to explore the town, including a 10-minute walk along a small alpine lake, climbing stairs, and using an escalator to reach the downtown area. The return to Milan is by either a full or partial regional train ride from Colico to Milan Central Station, taking about three hours including a break. The tour includes transportation by small bus, the Bernina train ticket, and an English-speaking guide. Lunch, alcoholic drinks, and gratuities are not included. Participants should be prepared for some walking with stairs and a long day. A valid passport is required.
