The group either paddles clockwise past Santa Marija Bay toward the Blue Lagoon or follows the reverse direction. The total kayaking time is about two and a half hours, including a 30-minute break at a quiet bay or swimming spot such as Santa Marija Bay, Urchin’s Bay, or Daħlet il-Ħmara. During the break, participants can swim, explore on land, or rest. The guide points out features along the route, including sea caves, bays, rock formations, an archway and tunnel near San Niklaw Bay, marine life at Urchin’s Bay, and geological sites like Qala Rock and salt pans dating back to Roman times. The tour includes views of St Anthony's Battery and a 700-year-old hermit hut. Only a few minutes are spent at the Blue Lagoon due to its usual crowd, then the tour moves to a quiet bay for a break where participants can swim, explore, or rest. Kayaking into the Blue Lagoon may be impossible at times due to weather, wind, or tourist numbers; in such cases, the guide will try to inform participants beforehand or land nearby to view it from land.
