Overview

This 3 hour 45 minute tour in Ketchikan starts at Clover Pass where participants meet the captain and first mate before boarding the enclosed, heated jet boat named Miss Cindy. The boat travels through bays and inlets while a narrator provides information about the local land, air, and sea environment. Wildlife such as eagles, porpoises, and seals can be seen from the boat. Between May and September, whales are often spotted along the route. After the boat ride, guests walk on Silverking’s exclusive elevated boardwalk trail through the Tongass National Forest, a temperate rainforest that is usually hard to access. Along the trail, visitors can observe features like Old Man’s Beard moss and nursery trees, and photograph the largest known red cedar in the forest. The tour concludes back at the Alaskan lodge with a seafeast-style seafood boil dinner that includes Dungeness crab, shrimp, mussels, clams, sausage, corn, garlic, pearl onions, and French bread. Carbonated beverages, bottled water, and lunch are included. Alcoholic beverages are not served. Note that low tide causes a steep ramp to and from the dock, so this tour is not recommended for those with limited mobility.
