Notice regarding Motonosumi Shrine visiting hours: From March 1st, the main hall of the shrine will be closed for worship on Saturdays, Sundays, Japanese national holidays, and during the periods of May 2nd–10th and August 8th–16th; the red torii gate area along the coast can be visited as usual. Starting from Fukuoka, embark on a journey intertwined with scenery and culture along the blue coastline of Kitakyushu. First, take a scenic drive past the [Kanmon Bridge] spanning the Kanmon Strait, feeling the magnificent momentum connecting Kyushu and Honshu. Arrive at [Karato Market], where you can choose freshly made sushi and seafood snacks in the bustling fishing port, enjoying the freshest port flavors. Then, head to [Motonosumi Shrine] in Yamaguchi Prefecture, capturing dreamlike scenery amidst the contrast of red torii gates and the azure sea. Next, explore the [Mojiko Retro Area], where retro European-style buildings and a tranquil bay reflect each other, as if time has returned to the Meiji era. Finally, take the [Sarakurayama Cable Car] to the summit to admire the "million-dollar night view," overlooking the brightly lit city of Kitakyushu. From day to night, this journey connects Kitakyushu's most captivating coastline with its most romantic night of lights. ⚠️ Travel Notice August 8th–16th is Japan's Obon holiday peak travel period.
