Overview

This full-day tour suits travelers based in Tokyo who want to visit Kyoto within a limited time. It includes round-trip travel on the Shinkansen bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto, an afternoon bus tour around Kyoto, lunch, and guidance from a National Government Licensed English Guide Interpreter. The tour starts at the Tourist Information Center Tokyo near Tokyo Station. Participants meet an English-speaking tour conductor who leads them to the Shinkansen platform at Tokyo Station. Special meal requests for allergies or ingredient changes cannot be accommodated. After lunch, guests are taken to the JTB Sunrise Tours Desk at Kyoto Avanti to meet other travelers before boarding the tour bus. The bus tour includes stops at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, where participants walk about 15 minutes each way from the parking lot to see the red Senbon Torii gates; Sanjusangendo Temple, known as the longest wooden structure housing 1,001 Buddhist Kannon statues from the 13th century; and Kiyomizu-dera Temple, a World Heritage Site offering views over Kyoto and a traditional shopping street. The afternoon sightseeing lasts about 2 hours and 20 minutes total. The tour finishes with the return Shinkansen trip to Tokyo, ending at Shin-Yokohama, Shinagawa, or Tokyo Station.
