by Lima Tours
This full-day tour covers central Lima and the Larco Museum in the Pueblo Libre district. The visit begins with a bus tour of Lima’s historic downtown, stopping at the Main Square to view its key attractions. From there, participants walk to the Cathedral of Lima, constructed between 1542 and 1622, which is the city’s main church. Next is the Aliaga House, an original vice regal residence granted by Francisco Pizarro in 1535 to Jerónimo de Aliaga, notable for remaining in the same family since its founding. The tour continues with a visit to the Larco Museum, established in 1926 by Rafael Larco Hoyle inside a viceregal mansion built atop a 7th-century pre-Columbian pyramid. The museum holds a large collection of pre-Hispanic gold, silver, and erotic art pieces. After the museum visit, the tour concludes with a return to the hotel. Rates differ for Peruvian nationals and other visitors.
