The tour then crosses the 25th of April Bridge, a steel suspension bridge over the Tagus River often compared to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge. Upon arrival in Belém, the tour visits several historic sites from the Age of Discovery. These include the Belém Tower, built between 1514 and 1520, where the group spends about 10 minutes; the Monument to the Discoveries; and the Jerónimos Monastery, which can be viewed from outside or visited inside if tickets are purchased separately. The tour concludes with a stop at the famous pastry shop in Belém, where travelers may try the local custard tarts (not included).
