Overview

Depart Tbilisi early in the morning and head towards Kazbegi, stopping at some fascinating sites along the way. The Ananuri Fortress Complex, a 16th century complex on the Aragvi River, features high stone walls protecting two churches, a watchtower and a beautifully carved main church façade overlooking the large Jinvali Lake. Next, visit Gudauri, a stunning ski resort at an altitude of 2,200 metres that offers world-class skiing from December to April. Continue to the Gergeti Trinity Church at 2,170 metres, a 12th or 13th century monument set against the breathtaking backdrop of Mount Kazbek at 5,033 metres.
