Overview

This four-and-a-half-hour tour explores the unexplored parts of Iztapalapa, the largest district in Mexico City, home to about two million residents. The tour starts downtown with a subway ride to the suburbs. The first stop is a museum where visitors spend 35 minutes learning about the history and traditions of Iztapalapa. Next, there is a one-hour walk through the district’s streets, including a visit to a cultural center and tasting local foods. Then participants take a ride on the world’s largest cable car, flying over less-visited areas of Iztapalapa to see colorful street art and views of the valley. After the cable car, the tour continues with a 30-minute visit to a local market featuring tacos and murals. The tour ends with a 20-minute stop at a local bar to try a pre-Hispanic drink. Snacks and alcoholic beverages are included throughout the tour. The return to the city center is by metro.
