Overview

Canyonlands National Park in Utah offers vast desert landscapes and deep canyons carved by the Colorado River. This full-day, 8-hour tour combines a 4-wheel drive adventure with an afternoon of white-water rafting on the river. The day begins in Moab with a 4WD drive through the Island in the Sky district. The guide navigates rugged trails including parts of White Rim Road and Shafer Trail, which feature steep switchbacks and views over 1,000 feet above the river. Along the way, the group stops to see ancient rock art created by Pueblo peoples and views of Fossil Point. This morning portion lasts about four hours. After the off-road drive, the group has a buffet lunch at the river. Following lunch, the tour switches to inflatable rafts or kayaks (if requested in advance) for a guided white-water rafting trip through Westwater Canyon on the Colorado River. Before rafting, guests receive safety instructions and are fitted with Coast Guard approved life jackets and river gear including dry bags. The rafting segment lasts about four hours. Throughout the day, guides provide information about the natural environment and historical sites in Canyonlands National Park and along the river corridor. The tour ends back in Moab after the rafting portion.
