Overview

This shared day trip lasts about seven hours and includes transport by air-conditioned minivan with hotel pickup and drop-off in Nice. The tour visits Monaco and surrounding sites along the French Riviera, with stops and free time to explore. The journey begins with a drive along the coast through Villefranche Bay to the medieval village of Eze. Visitors spend about 80 minutes walking the cobbled streets up to the exotic garden and castle ruins perched 427 meters above sea level. At the Fragonard perfumery, a guided tour explains the perfume-making process. Next, the minivan passes through La Turbie, where travelers see the Trophy of the Alps, a 50-meter-high Roman monument built in 7 BC. The group then arrives in Monaco, first stopping near the Prince’s Palace to watch the Changing of the Guard ceremony at 11:55 am. This stop does not include entry inside the palace. Afterward, there is about 90 minutes of free time in Monaco’s old town, known as "Le Rocher," which overlooks the sea and harbor. Highlights here include views of the Prince’s Palace and surrounding historic buildings. The tour also passes the Justice Palace and visits the Cathedral of Notre-Dame-Immaculée, built from white stone from La Turbie and completed in 1903. Visitors may pay respects at the tombs of Monaco’s princes and Princess Grace. Those interested can optionally visit the Oceanographic Museum, founded by Prince Albert I over a century ago (entrance fees not included). The route continues by driving the Formula 1 Grand Prix circuit to Monte-Carlo. Here, the group spends about 30 minutes at the Casino de Monte-Carlo, designed by architect Charles Garnier and opened in the 19th century. The visit includes the casino gardens and a view of the Hôtel de Paris. Throughout the tour, a professional guide provides information inside the minivan. Food, drinks, gratuities, and entrance fees are not included. The tour suits travelers wanting a mix of sightseeing and independent exploration along the French Riviera. If the tour is booked by cruise passengers and the port visit is cancelled at short notice, a 50% refund can be requested.
