Overview

The Monument Valley 2 Hour Horseback Tour with Navajo Guide begins at the Sacred Monument Tours Horse Stable near The View Hotel Premium Cabins. Upon arrival, participants meet the Navajo guide, sign a waiver, and receive a safety briefing. Riders then mount well-trained horses and start the two-hour ride through Monument Valley. The tour first heads toward the West and East Mitten Buttes, rock formations shaped like mittens with their thumbs facing inward. The guide explains the geological features of these landmarks. Next, the ride passes Merrick Butte, a 5,000-foot elevation rock named after 19th-century prospector Richard Merrick, known from Western films. The tour continues to Sentinel Mesa, standing at 6,200 feet, a natural landmark for the Navajo and early explorers. This stop offers panoramic views and photo opportunities of the red rock formations. After completing the route, riders return to the horse stable where they can ask questions and take pictures with the horses. The tour includes cowboy hats, helmets, personal protective equipment, a Navajo guide, and opportunities for photography. Entrance fees, food and drink, private transportation, extended or custom stops, and gratuities are not included. The ride is suitable for both beginners and experienced riders.
