Overview

This small-group day trip from Banff or Canmore visits Moraine Lake and Lake Louise with options for a morning or sunset tour. The full trip lasts about 6 to 7 hours and is conducted in a comfortable 14-passenger van with air conditioning and a high roof. Guests can choose the morning tour that starts at 8 AM, allowing roughly 1.5 hours at each lake to walk around, explore, or take a short canoe ride if docks are available. Alternatively, the afternoon sunset tour gives 1 hour at each lake, when the area is quieter and bathed in golden light. In both options, the guide and van remain at the lakes during stops, so there is no waiting for transportation. The route includes travel through a wildlife corridor along the Bow Valley Parkway, where sightings of local animals, including the occasional grizzly bear, are possible though not guaranteed. The trip also passes by Vermilion Lakes, with views of Mount Rundle. Pick-up and drop-off are available at selected hotels in Banff, Canmore, and Harvie Heights. The guide shares information about Banff National Park’s wildlife and environment throughout the trip. Moraine Lake access fees are included, as well as water refills (bring your own bottle). Canoe rental fees and meals are not included.
