This half-day small-group walking tour covers about 5 to 6 hours and is led by a certified Sicilian guide. Participants will trek past volcanic craters and ancient lava flows that create a terrain resembling the moon's surface under the morning sun. The route includes walking through ancient forests, exploring extinct craters, and crossing extensive lava fields around 2,000 meters elevation. The guide explains Mount Etna's geological features while pointing out views of the Valle del Bove. The tour also visits a volcanic cave and a lava tube. At the end of the tour, the group stops at a traditional Sicilian farm for a tasting of local products and wines. This tasting is included and provides a chance to rest after the hike. Helmets, hiking poles, and a licensed guide are provided. The Silvestri Crater requires a separate ticket, which is not included, but other crater visits are free of charge.
