Overview

【Volcano, Shrine, Mythology: A Day Trip Through Kyushu's Hidden Gems】 Take the road less traveled, cross the boundary between nature and legend, and experience a soul-stirring journey through Kyushu. ⸻ Mount Aso Crater One of the world's largest active volcanoes, like the heartbeat of the earth. The colossal crater and constantly rising steam make you feel as if you're in a prehistoric wilderness. This is the land of fire, a display of nature's most primal power—shocking, solemn, and awe-inspiring. Currently, the Mount Aso crater is closed, and the reopening date is unknown. During the closure, visitors will go to Kusasenri. Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine Hidden deep in the mountains, the approach lined with stone lanterns and cedar trees is quiet and mysterious. Known as a "real-life hidden spiritual realm," it is also the inspiration for the classic anime "Hotarubi no Mori e." Walking through this forest forgotten by time, it feels as if you might brush shoulders with "Gin" at any moment—a fleeting yet eternal tenderness that makes you slow your pace. Takachiho Gorge One of the birthplaces of Japanese mythology, where Amaterasu Omikami is said to have hidden. The gorge was carved by volcanic lava, with cliffs like knife blades on both sides, and waterfalls cascading from above, like a ray of light between heaven and earth. Here, you'll find both the marvels of nature and the lingering echoes of divine legends, making it an excellent place for contemplation and meditation. A single journey, spanning the roar of volcanoes, the whispers of shrines, and the echoes of myths— Let your body travel, and let your soul settle. This is not just a sightseeing trip; it's an encounter with the soul of Kyushu.
