Overview

This private guided nature day trip in the Mt Fuji area of Fujikawaguchiko lasts about five to six hours and includes transport by private van and walking. A native English-speaking guide who is also a long-time local resident leads the tour. Pick-up is available from Kawaguchiko station or hotels in the Fujikawaguchiko area. The tour begins at Asama Shrine, known for its giant cedar trees that are over 1,200 years old. This shrine is the oldest in the area and is part of the Mt Fuji World Cultural Heritage Site. Nearby is Mother's White Waterfall (Haha no Shirataki), which offers clear views of Mt Fuji and Lake Kawaguchiko. The route continues with a drive around Lake Kawaguchiko and Lake Saiko, stopping at several viewpoints to see Mt Fuji. Next is a visit to Oishi Flower Park before reaching Lake Saiko, one of the Five Lakes around Mt Fuji. The tour then proceeds to Aokigahara Jukai Forest, also called the Sea of Trees, located within Yacho no Mori Koen (Wild Birds Forest Park). Guests walk through a lava rock forest formed by a volcanic eruption in 864 AD, covering about 30 square kilometers, featuring moss-covered trees and quiet natural surroundings. The final main stop is Dragon Cave (Ryugu Doketsu), a designated National Monument. Depending on time and weather conditions, additional stops may include Climax Forest on Mt Fuji at 1,200 meters elevation and watching the sunset over Lake Shoji or Lakes Saiko and Kawaguchiko. Food and drinks, including lunch, are not included in the tour.
