Overview

This three-hour tour starts early at around 5:15 AM to observe Mumbai’s activity at dawn. The tour begins at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST), the busiest railway station in Mumbai with about 660,000 daily passengers. Visitors will see the station’s newspaper sorting area, where newspapers in seven different languages are organized. Next, the tour moves to Sassoon Dock, where the original inhabitants of Mumbai, the Koli fisherfolk, handle and auction up to 50 tonnes of fish, including the Bombay Duck. Afterward, the tour visits a flower market to observe the early morning colors and fragrances. The final stop is the Byculla wholesale produce market, which remains busy while most of the city is still asleep. The tour includes hotel pickup and drop-off, bottled water, tea and coffee, shoe covers for the docks, a fruit snack, private transport, and a professional guide. The sequence of stops may vary depending on the guide. The docks are closed in June and July, and the newspaper sorting is not available the day after a public holiday. The tour is not conducted on the day of the Mumbai Marathon. This tour is recommended by Nigella Lawson and National Geographic Traveller.
