Overview

This full-day bus tour begins with a drive from Athens to the archaeological site of Mycenae, where visitors spend about one hour exploring the remains of this ancient city that was a major center of Greek civilization from 1600 BC to 1100 BC. The guided visit includes the Cyclopean walls, the Lions Gate, the Palace of Agamemnon, and a stop at the Citadel and the Treasury of Atreus, also known as the tomb of Agamemnon, where the group spends around 20 minutes. After Mycenae, the tour continues with a 20-minute drive and stop at the Corinth Canal to view the canal from the coach. The trip then proceeds to Nafplion for a two-hour guided walking tour of the seaside town. Visitors follow a route that highlights key landmarks such as the obelisk of France, the Venetian Loggia, the White House, the old and new castles, and walk along the marble-paved street leading to the new town. The guide discusses the political history of Greece during the walk, including the statues of Ioannis Kapodistrias and King Otto. There is also free time included for independent exploration of Nafplion. After the visit, the group returns to Athens by coach. The tour lasts about 10 hours and includes a professional English-speaking guide. Lunch and entrance tickets to Mycenae are optional extras. Hotel pickup and drop-off are available for selected hotels only. The sequence of visits to Mycenae and Nafplion may be reversed depending on daily site availability and entry times, but both locations are fully covered during the day.
